ArjunPari#76 Saturday 10Aug2013 The wedding day smiles..

The wedding ceremony of my brother started. Asha(my brother's bride) was looking forward for this moment long time. I could feel the happiness in her smile. I can see same smile on everyone's face. This wedding sure is the happiest one.
Kiran, Pari and others arrived before the muhurtham(time set for the holy ceremony), they got a smiling welcome from my cousins. They quickly got ready for the ceremony. And when I saw Pari, I was really shocked! She was wearing a sari, a beautiful one, the same saree which I wanted to buy for her. I should hide my feelings here. I introduced Pari and others to everyone. As I already knew there was something fishy! I got teased a lot by my cousins for what i said before. I will get an angel for me and co-incidentally for them..her name was Pari! And to add more I acted more cool when she was around!

The wedding would start with "mangala snanam"(a special bath), followed by pooja(prayers) and the main events would be kanyadaanam(giving the bride to groom), jeelakarrabellam(ceremony is named after cumin seeds and jaggery) and moodumullu(three knots).
Kanyadaanam, the father of bride  washes the feet of groom accompanied by his wife. This ceremony signifies that the bride's father is giving away his precious daughter to the groom. Jeelakarrabellam, when it is time of muhurtham, the bride and groom will exchange portion of cumin seeds and jaggery placed on their palms with a betel leaf on their heads. There would be a cloth partition between bride and groom who are faced agianst each other, which would be removed after this event. Moodumullu, the groom would tie a holy thread/chain which is covered in turmeric and contains dried turmeric fruit or gold with three knots across bride's neck. This one signifies a strong relationship between them. These ceremonies would be followed by few other silly and interesting games for an interactive relation between bride and groom as well as within families. There was a game for bride's mother and groom's mother. As they were friends, it was fun watching them! Pari and others watched and enjoyed all these.

It was a happy event, still we could see tears flowing from the eyes. This event is appaginthalu(handover:p). Lot of pictures were captured at the wedding. All those wedding smiles are very good memories.
